Surgeons at the Minimal Invasive Hip Centre

Surgeon Training Programme

At the Minimal Invasive Hip Centre we provide training for Surgeons so they can familiarise themselves with the Minimally Invasive Surgery technique that has been created by Mr Chana. This gives an opportunity for surgeons to work alongside Mr Chana and become familiar and confident with his Minimally Invasive technique. If you are interested in taking part in one of these training sessions then please contact us for more information

Resident Surgeon - Mr G S Chana MChB, FRCS Ed

Mr Chana MChB FRCS Ed, trained at the University of Birmingham Medical School and qualified in 1975.

Pre-fellowship training was undertaken in Leeds and he became a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon in 1990.

Having successfully operated on patients internationally he has carried out 2,500 total hip replacements and over 1,500 hip resurfacings using the conventional approach.

Extensive experience in the field of hip surgery inspired Mr Chana to research the possibility of minimally invasive techniques for such operations. As a result, he developed a radical new approach to hip resurfacing and replacement surgery using specially designed instrumentation to adapt to MIS. Mr Chana has carried out over 350 hip resurfacing operations for patients with arthritic hip conditions using the minimally invasive approach.
